Detailed description of Lansdowne Golf Club, Jones Course

The Golf Club at Lansdowne has two, 18-hole golf courses, The Norman Course and The Jones Course. There is also a 9 hole course, The Sharkbite Course.

The courses are available for play by the members and resort guests.

The Golf Club at Lansdowne, The Jones Course, first opened for play in 1991. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

The Jones Course - Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Course showcases his master design touch across the Virginia countryside incorporating fields, woodlands, natural stone outcroppings and centuries’ old rock walls. While friendly, the strategic layout will test the skills of both the accomplished and novice golfer.

This par-72, 7,057-yard classic promises to be a memorable round every time. From the forward tees the course measures 5213 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 5, a par-5 that plays to 610 Yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 177 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 6, a 442 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 10, a 379 yard par-4.

The Golf Club at Lansdowne members and guests also can enjoy the impressive 16-acre grass driving range, 3 large putting greens and an 80 yard short game area. A full PGA staff and a host of other golf amentities (bag storage, club cleaning, handicap service and full tournament schedule) round out a truly unique golf club.

Played in a charity scramble so I really can't comment on the normal pace of play or pricing. RTJ,II design is very nice and for being early in the season the conditioning was fine. Aeration still evident but not much rain this spring. Located under the Dulles flight approach but after the first few holes you don't notice any longer. Would like to go back and play the Norman track.

Would travel: 60-120 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing
